Heinrich

Frankenstein Jager

Motto: “Life is full of simple choices.”

Heinrich appears to be a large-boned woman with long, shaggy gray hair. She is just over six foot tall. Her skin tone is mostly pale with a slight bluish cast to it. She has a rather wolfish appearance with unusual dark red eyes. For a long time, she'd dress in the masculine styles of the 1800's, but has since adopted a street samurai look. She has a noticeable German accent.

She is a magical construct, created many years ago by a wizard named Karl Werfel. She is one of many of his creations, called Werfelhuenden. They were created as protectors and guardians of his bloodline. It is unknown how many still remain. The werfelhuenden were unique in constructs in that they contain a human soul, but do not suffer insanity. Some of the huenden were created to act as hunter, soldiers, or bodyguards. The way that the spell was created is such that they are bound to serve the bloodline. Without a master, they can be rudderless and chaotic.

Heinrich is old by human standards. She was a bodyguard to various members of the family over the years. She remembers serving her family, and that at onetime she had brothers and sisters. Over time, the numbers declined. By the time of the world wars, her kindred and family were lost to her.

Her last master of the bloodline was Fritz Welfel. Soon before World War II, the last of the clan divided themselves up into immediate families and went into hiding. They feared Hitler's desire for magic, and did not want to take part in his mad schemes. The remaining huenden were split up between them, and Heinrich was sent to protec Fritz's parents. Fritz's family was in a car wreck, and Heinrich was only able to save young Fritz from dying. Fritz never married, and Heinrich acted as his nurse in is waning years. Fritz was friends with Randall Palmer, and made his will out to pass his ownership of Heinrich to the Midnighter's club. He did this knowing that Heinrich is built to serve, and would most likely stop functioning without a purpose. Fritz died of a heart attack in his sixties. Heinrich has been at the Midnighter's club for about ten years.

Heinrich is shaped by the desire to protect someone. The big problem is that she has a serious lack of focus in that regard and often chooses a random recipient of her protection. Being held in service to the Club has eased this to some degree, but not completely. She has been known to stop cars by standing in front of them to protect a person too close to the oncoming vehicle.

Heinrich is susceptible to magical effects, and is well aware of this. When some thing wizard like appears, she'll take a back seat in the fight.

She has trained with modern arms. She is also very skilled in unarmed and simple martial styles.

When Heinrich lost the last of the Welfel clan that she was protecting, and older man named Fritz who had died of a heart ailment, she found that she had to think for herself for the first time. She has grown as a result of that, and now find interest in things that many people don't give a second thought to. She is very curious about technology, but often interprets in terms of it being able to do damage to someone. Electricity is great for light bulbs, but did you know that it can also stop a human heart?

She likes to engage in rough and baudy humor with whomever she is around. She does not really ever relax, but has been known to play the odd prank. Unfortunately, she keeps forgetting how frail humans are when doing the pranks.

Heinrich has been considered the club's resource, but she needs to be kept occupied. They have agreed to help her find any of the Werfel bloodline so that she can be passed on to serve her family. Over time, they had to assign her as a part of security for the club, and make sure that she generally had someone watching over her to keep her random impulses in line.

More recently, she was friends with Joseph, another of the creatures living under the watch of the Midnighter's club. Though they had very different backgrounds, they got along amazingly well. Ophelia assigned the two of them as part of a new task group in the Midnighter's Club to help humanity against supernatural powers.

Heinrich and the task group discovered some of the Welfelhuenden in Philidelphia. They were bound to the service of a wizard. She left the task group to be with her kin. Eventually, the task group was able to break the spell that the wizard had bound the creatures with and freed them from his service. Heinrich left the club to go to Europe to be with some of the remaining kin and learn how to utilize her abilities. Her long years of quiet service had atrophied her skills.

The Midnighter's Club does not have any official word on her whereabouts, but monitor the news for unusual acts of natural disaster for clues.
